The focus will be on staff training, curriculum development, course design, and actual conduct of the pilot courses. A special emphasis will be given to gender issues in water & support to women water professionals to partake in the program. The project is based in SaciWATERs, Hyderabad, India and is being supported by DEGIS, Netherlands and has recently been sanctioned. For more information please visit www.saciwaters.org.

A critical Assessment Study of Capacity Building Systems in South Asian countries with a view to identifying the gaps for CB for supporting IWRM trajectory. The objective is to have a reference document on which the future strategy of CB for IWRM for SA can be designed. The output will comprise defining the contours of CB strategy for the region as well as the countries.

ResNet: A regional research network for IWRM has been set up as a sub-network of CapNet SA. One of the first activities of ResNet is to produce a status report on the research on water in South Asia with a view to identifying research gaps that need to be emphasized in the future research strategy for IWRM. Collaboration with International Foundation for Science (IFS) for supporting young scientist for interdisciplinary research on water is planned.

Following the ToTs for gender mainstreaming for IWRM, sensitization campaigns for integrated approaches to water in a campaign mode to a wider cross section of audience will be undertaken.

Initiating national dialogues on IWRM through Country CapNets and CWPs to arrive at a shared understanding of the conceptual framework underlying IWRM Capacity Building for Conflict Resolution initiatives.

Liaising with CWPs as per the CB demand from them - e.g. through integration of Tool Box initiative in the CB activities

Consolidating and Strengthening CapNet structure in SA by streamlining internal governance as a continuous process and through resource mobilization.
