Regional Secretariat (RS) of CapNet South Asia was established on March 28, 2004 after the first Regional Meeting of CapNet at NIAS, Bangalore, India. The meeting marked the emergence of a decentralized structure of CapNets in South Asia as an autonomous network comprising of Country and Regional Coordinators and a general body of members/partners from all across South Asia.
Dr. Jasveen Jairath was endorsed as Regional Coordinator and was mandated with responsibility of managing the RS.
Host Organization
Currently Regional Secretariat of CapNet South Asia is hosted by
Society for Participatory Development (SPD), Hyderabad, India, which is registered under Registration of Society Act, India.
SPD is an non-government organization focused on Natural Resource Management issues within a gender sensitive perspective. It is a member of World Water Congress and is currently also a member of its BOG. Its activities range from research, experimental work, advocacy and networking, and capacity building for natural resource management with particular emphasis on water. |
