Asia Urbs Project
Regional Capacity Building (RCB) Programme

This Programme is a sub-action Under the Asia-Urbs Project. The aim of the Asia-Urbs Project is to fund local government partnerships for urban development.

The aim of this sub action is to help and support Indian cities to initiate and develop an integrated and innovative approach for their water supply, sanitation and sewerage expansion projects as well as for rehabilitation and preservation of the environmental qualities of their water systems projects. Targets groups will be two Indian cities ( municipalities and/or water boards), to be chosen at the end of a first phase of the project and beyond urban population, particularly urban poor. Mains actions will be:

1) identify and summarize the best practices in the Indian context, as well as in Europe when transferable to India 

support a participatory approach to the setting up of an action plan in the two Indian cities, with the participation of relevant water authorities in Europe 

provide the Indian partner, SACIWATERS, with tools and methodology able to disseminate best practices among others cities in India.

The duration of the project will be 24 months.
