Facilitating the creation of Country CapNets and mediating the interaction between regional and global centre of CapNet has been one of the important responsibility of SaciWATERs being the nodal organization for SAS-CapNet. In this regard, CapNet-Sri Lanka (CapNet-Lanka) was launched at a meeting held on October 4, 2003 at the Post Graduate Institute of Agriculture (PGIA), University of Peradeniya, and its Core Group was formed. Prof. Nimal Gunawardena of University of Peradeniya was appointed as the coordinator of CapNet-Lanka and PGIA was identified as the host organization for CapNet-Lanka.
