Minutes of the CapNet Pakistan General Body Members Meeting 23rd December 2005

CapNet Pakistan General Body meeting was held on the 23rd of December 2005 in Islamabad hosted by Pakistan Water Partnership (PWP).
The meeting was opened by welcome remarks from Ms Farzana Saleem, Member RC-GWP-SAS, Director PWP and the Country Focal Person for CapNet. The meeting was attended by the water professionals and representatives from organizations actively working in the water sector…each Registered as General Body member of CapNet Pakistan. A list of participants is attached.
After introduction from each participant, Ms Farzana Saleem gave a detailed overview of the CapNet structure at the Global, Regional and Country levels and its association with the Global Water Partnership (GWP).
This was followed by a brief explanation from Ms Farzana Saleem of the background of the present conflict between the Regional secretariat and the Pakistan Coordinator. She further explained participants about the Regional meeting that was held in New Delhi on the 25th November 2005 that mandated Ms Farzana Saleem and Ms Johdah Bokahri to organize the meeting of General body members of Cap Net Pakistan to resolve the issue.
All the members participated very actively and gave very valuable inputs on the procedural matters and route map for resolving the conflict.

It was agreed that this Transition committee will accomplish the following Tasks leading to the chairing of the new Coordinator.

Renewal of membership List
In the first phase the committee will initiate the process of “ Renewal of membership list “ through Re- Confirmation of membership The expected time frame for the finalization of this Task is one month.
Identification of Host Organization
After the finalization of the membership list, the T.C will identify the host organization through a process based on merit and transparency. The expected time period for the completion of this stage is another one month.
Nominations for Core Group
After the completion of above two Tasks, the Transition Committee would call for the core group nominations through E-Communication to all members. The T.C will ensure that only those Nominations are placed on the panel which qualify the requisite criteria described in the Working Guidelines. The Time Frame extended for this exercise is again one month.
General Body Meeting
At the end of third month a General Body meeting of members will be held where the panel of core group nominees will introduce themselves to the G.B . The members of this G.B would elect/select/ decide on the Core Group members then and there.
Subsequently this G.B meeting on the same day would be followed by a Core Group Meeting which will then nominate and elect their Coordinator.
